“Nature Island” of the Caribbean

The decision by “Prenup Challenge” to select Dominica (dom-en-ee’-ka) as its host location was pretty much a no-brainer. Known as an eco-tourist destination, as well as being home to a UNESCO World Heritage site, the Island’s physical beauty, naturally challenging terrain, pristine environment and gracious local citizens made it an obvious and welcome temporary home. Dominica’s lush and rugged tropical setting seemed like the ideal place to physically challenge the contestants, and we figured its balmy Caribbean breezes and relaxed island lifestyle would be the perfect backdrop to loosen inhibitions and unveil any problems lurking below the surface of the couples’ relationships.

Dominica lies in the Eastern Caribbean, just north of Martinique, and forms part of the Lesser Antilles chain of islands. Just over 45 km long and 25km across at its widest point, the Island boasts an astonishing variety of natural attractions. Its mountain ranges soar to almost 5,000 feet, strongly evoking its volcanic origins in the Caribbean Ring of Fire. Lush rainforest and carpets of greenery blanket the island, suggesting an ageless beauty that is irresistible to eco-travelers.
